Littoral Warfare Environment

Abstract:
The Littoral Warfare Environment is one of a kind, state of
the art test and training facility that will
replicate the littoral region including the sea to land interface. The Littoral
Warfare Environment is a man made facility with a 100 foot custom wave
generator capable of producing waves up to Sea State III conditions (six foot
waves). The facility will be capable of handling underwater explosions up to
500 lbs. TNT equivalent as well as surf and beach mines. The facility has also
been designed and approved to accommodate dynamic testing of military vehicle
with a main armament up to 40mm. The Littoral Warfare Environment is scheduled
to be operational November 2005.
