New Developments in High Performance Data Acquisition Systems
New Approaches to High Performance Data Acquisition

Abstract:
Several novel concepts are presented from design of the new Hi-Techniques Synergy data acquisition system. Traditionally, time-domain and frequency-domain instruments each required unique front end amplification, filtering and processing. Recent development in powerful, compact and inexpensive hardware now allows a single, more versatile instrument.

Selectable analog and digital filtering types can now provide optimal response for both time domain and frequency domain applications. A high digitizing rate can offer MHz bandwidth for ballistics and pyroshock applications while digital filters implemented in hardware provide anti-alias protection for vibration tests. Voltage, bridge, ICP accelerometer and thermocouple signal conditioning can be provided on all channels to eliminate module exchange or external amplifiers. Standard Ethernet communication allows front panel operation or remote location of the instrumentation up to several kilometers. Increased DSP capabilities can provide on-the-fly analysis with custom user programming.
