Basics of Acoustics: Generation,
Description, Instrumentation,
& Measurement
Potentate Richard J. Peppin, Scantek, Inc
Abstract:
I will discuss the basics of sound, how it is generated,
described, measured, analyzed, and propagated. Included will be concepts of
decibels, wavelengths, filters, metrics used, human response, types of
instruments, standards for measurement, basic noise control. Also calibration
concerns will be addressed if of interest to participants.
For those that have sound level meters, or analyzers they inherited and don't
know how to use them, we can review each. If attendees have questions about
applications at work, they can bring them to discuss.
