DD(X) WHOLE SHIP TRANSIENT ANALYSIS

Abstract:

This paper presents an overview of the Whole Ship Transient Analysis (WSTA) modeling and simulation (M&S) conducted for Phase 3 of the DD(X) design.  WSTA is a 2,100,000 dof USA/LS-DYNA model of the DD(X) design incorporating dynamic sub-models of many mission essential systems.   The considerations affecting the modeling of the design, the challenges of updating and maintaining the model, the verification and validation of the M&S, and the intended uses will be described.
